The Nikon ZR, NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II and Nikon Z5II each won a category win at the 2026 TIPA World Awards.

TIPA World Awards 2026

The 2026 TIPA World Awards recognised a trio of Nikon products in its latest round of honours, with the Nikon Z5II, Nikon ZR and NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II each taking home category wins.

Named Best Full Frame Advanced Camera, the Z5II was celebrated for bringing high-performance features, including EXPEED 7 processing, intelligent subject detection, 3D tracking and fast continuous shooting, into an accessible full-frame body built for photographers and hybrid creators. “This full-frame mirrorless camera is designed for photographers and hybrid creators seeking high image quality and advanced autofocus performance,” TIPA noted. “Overall, the Z5II offers many flagship-level capabilities in a more affordable entry-level full-frame camera system.”

For filmmakers, the Nikon ZR earned the title of Best Advanced Compact Cinema Camera, with TIPA recognising its ability to deliver serious cinematic performance in a compact, agile body, stating: “The Nikon ZR sets high standards with its outstanding innovation, reliability and performance in professional video production. It represents a significant advancement in imaging technology, delivering exceptional 6K video resolution, 15+ stops of dynamic range in video and versatility for filmmakers and content creators.”

Rounding out Nikon’s TIPA success, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II took home Best Full Frame Standard Zoom Lens. “This newly designed lens delivers exceptional optical performance and professional versatility,” says TIPA. “Overall, the lens provides outstanding sharpness, edge-to-edge clarity and beautiful background separation across the entire zoom range. Its robust weather-sealed construction, fast and quiet autofocus and customisable control ring make it equally suitable for still photography and video production.”

The Nikon ZR, Nikon Z5II, NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, COOLSHOT PROIII STABILIZED and COOLSHOT 50i GII all enjoyed success as Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026 winners

Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026

Nikon’s awards momentum continued at the 2026 Red Dot Award: Product Design, with the Nikon ZR and Nikon Z5II earning further recognition, while the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ also received a Red Dot distinction. The ZR was singled out for the way it “skilfully translates professional film functions into a compact, integrated camera concept for versatile use”, while the Z5II was commended, for “combining functional clarity, ease of use and sustainable design principles into a well-balanced system camera”. The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ lens was also celebrated for its “clearly structured operating logic”, delivering precision for professional film production. Nikon’s wider optical expertise was recognised too, with the COOLSHOT series earning the competition’s highest honour, the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The Z5II, ZR, Z50II, NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ and Nikon Imaging Cloud were all recognised as iF Design Award 2026 winners

iF Design Award 2026

The iF Design Award 2026 added further weight to Nikon’s awards season, with more products and services recognised by one of the world’s most respected design competitions. Among the standout winners was the ZR once again, praised for how it “brings new value by integrating cinematic performance into a compact body.” The Z50II, Z5II, NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ and Nikon Imaging Cloud were also recognised.

CineD Cameras of the Year 2025

The flurry of spring awards follows a strong finish to 2025, when the ZR was named category winner in CineD’s Video-specific Camera of the Year 2025 awards. The recognition further underlines its appeal as a compact camera built for serious filmmaking, with CineD’s Gunther Machu praising its value, stabilisation and heat management, describing it as “best bang for the buck, no overheating and IBIS!” He also highlighted the ZR’s “remarkably large built-in screen”.
